OK friends I am officially part of the most fabulous blog circle ever which is awesome for two reasons:  1) It makes me feel like I’m sitting at the cool kids’ table 2) It forces my inner lazy self to try new techniques every month.

Now, my excitement at being included in this awesome group of photographers was momentarily put on hold when I discovered that this month’s images were supposed to use Chiaroscuro lighting.  Yep…Chiaroscuro lighting.  I didn’t know how to say it let alone what it was or how to use it to create images.  Do you ever have moments where you contemplate your existence before Google?  I do.  It’s a scary scary place and it makes me want my mummy so I just carry on and thank my lucky stars that we DO live in a world where Google exists.  Can I get an Amen?  So, I typed Chiaroscuro (after checking the spelling about eleventy million times) into Google and here’s what came up “…the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition.”  Thank you Wikipedia.

Well…that’s not too scary now is it?  What also turned out to be a bonus is that I was able to use this assignment to set up a bit of selfie with my sweet baby girl who is ten months old (I don’t know how that happened).  Poor lamb…second child syndrome is for realz peeps.  I have about 47 000 images of my first child and, like, 2 of my baby.  OK I have more than 2 but you know what I mean.  Anyway the stars aligned in a way that I could get a shot of me and my wee babe AND try my hand at Chiaroscuro lighting.  Go me!  So…here it is.
